A Celtics Legend

Bill Walton, who spent only one full season with the Boston Celtics, passed away on Monday at the age of 71 following a lengthy illness. As a Celtic, Walton overcame years of debilitating injuries, regained his zest for the game, and helped guide the 1986 Boston Celtics championship.

Career-High Season

Walton played a career-high 80 games for Coach KC Jones and the Celtics during the 1985-86 season, averaging 7.6 points, 6.8 rebounds, and 2.3 assists. His presence on the court was a major factor in Boston's success that season, as they finished with a 67-15 record and won the NBA championship.

Honoring a Legend

Ahead of Game 1 of the NBA Finals at TD Garden on Thursday night, the Celtics finally got a chance to honor the late Bill Walton. A video tribute was played in the arena, and the team wore commemorative patches with the initials "B.W." to remember the Hall of Famer's contributions to the franchise.

A Lasting Legacy

Bill Walton's impact on the Boston Celtics goes beyond his statistics. He brought a level of intensity and leadership to the team that was instrumental in their success. His legacy as a Celtics icon will live on for years to come, and his contributions to the game of basketball will always be remembered.
